Over the past few years many of us have enjoyed our homes more than ever before but have you been neglecting your outside space?  Still living with that old, faded, uncomfortable garden furniture?  Now that autumn is approaching…it’s a great time to get inspired for the arrival of spring.

You might not be looking to revamp the outside space entirely but just give it some TLC to bring it to life, updating it with the latest trends and bringing the outdoors in or vice versa!  It’s a great idea to carry on your interior colour scheme to the outside making it a seamless design. Alternatively, depending on where your garden, patio or terrace sits in relation to the property, you can go wild with fun prints and bold colours which will only be enhanced by the sunshine!

A garden needs to offer a relaxing space to unwind in the sun. Above all, it needs to be comfortable, whether you are sitting reading, socialising, dining or just admiring the view.  Seating is key, and due to the inclement British weather and those un-forecast rain showers, the best idea is to use outdoor fabrics for your outdoor seat covers, bean bags and cushions.  Many of our suppliers offer an array of great colours, patterns, and styles of ‘outdoor fabrics’ which are not only waterproof, meaning they can be left outside in all weathers, but also UV resistant meaning they won’t fade.

These fabrics can be used for reupholstering existing garden furniture seat cushions or making new throw cushions and we can arrange for you to have your existing outdoor cushions reupholstered over the winter so as they are ready for springtime.

Depending how your garden faces you may need some extra shade, there are some fabulous sunshades, awnings, sails, and parasols in every colour of the rainbow which can offer added protection from the rays.  For those chillier evenings invest in a patio heater, freestanding or one that can be hung overhead, there are so many to choose from and suit different budgets.

To brighten up the exterior think about painting the back wall of the house a pale colour, you don’t need to go above the ground floor, it makes all the difference and will bounce light into the garden.  A funky outdoor rug will cheer things up further, you can tone it with the cushion fabric scheme or go bold with a primary colour.  Another way to liven up the outdoors is hanging some wall art, a trellis, hanging baskets or fill planters with your favourite blooms.

Remember, Koubou Interiors can help you choose your outdoor accessories as well, pop in and peruse our extensive library for inspiration.

Here’s to the sunshine!
