Do I sign a contract?
Most definitely..... yes! A contract allows all parties to be sure of what has been agreed, the costs involved and the services to be provided. This protects the designer and yourselves by law and gives you peace of mind should there be any disputes.
Who decides the final design?
You do......but bear in mind that you have employed a professional to help you turn your dreams into a reality. Use that knowledge and experience to ensure the best possible development of your ideas. The final transformation of your interior is a result of an open, honest and trusting partnership between the Designer and you.
What does the Designer need to know?
In order to develop your interior the Designer should be asking questions about how your your interior is used, what are your favoured tastes, colours and themes, your time scales and of course your budget. To explore this envelope some of the questions may seem a little esoteric. It is part of the designer's task to help you with awareness of design aspects you had not thought of. So be prepared to answer these questions and by maintaining an open mind the boundaries of possibilities will be extended.
What is this going to cost?
The partnership with your designer is dynamic with the setting of the budget an important part of that partnership. A good designer should be able to advise you on your budget and source materials and services at reasonable cost. Indeed she may be able to save you money by this knowledge base. Additionally her knowledge and expertise may be very reasonable or free when part of a project package.
Do I really need the services of an Interior Designer?
Think about the time you have available, your knowledge of design and colour and of the products available to you. A partnership with an Interior Designer can enhance your ideas and skills and save you precious time.
How do I choose an Interior designer?
Engaging the right professional to help you remodel your interior is very important. We have all seen the disasters screened on the many TV programmes where the professional is out of step with the wishes and tastes of the client. Look for a designer that is prepared to listen to your ideas, yet at the same time develop them and offer solutions you did not know about.
